Vtrim for Healthcare Providers

Top-Tier, Research-Based Treatment for Overweight and Obesity

Weigh In

With current levels of obesity at more than 35% of the adult US population, healthcare providers are looking for effective treatment options that adhere to clinical guidelines for treatment of obesity and overweight from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). These guidelines are based on the same body of clinical evidence that was used to develop, test, and refine the Vtrim program; they recommend an approach that includes 6 months of dietary therapy, physical activity, and behavior therapy, followed by a weight maintenance program that includes these same features.

  • The weight-loss portion of Vtrim consists of two 12-week, online, closed group programs: Vtrim I and Vtrim II. Expert guidance occurs weekly (or more frequently) and the fully online program design typically results in participants losing 1–2 pounds per week for the first 24 weeks.
  • The Vtrim weight maintenance program (also 100% online) is offered on a monthly subscription basis. Online classes and expert facilitator communication occur twice per month and participants retain access to all online tools.

Experts Lead the Vtrim Program: Training Options for Your Staff

One of the big advantages of choosing the Vtrim® program is that certified Vtrim facilitators lead all groups. Our facilitators are registered dietitians (RDs) or counselors holding Masters degrees—all will be RDs moving forward. To become a Vtrim facilitator, qualified candidates must complete and pass our rigorous 45-hour online training program. They can even submit for continuing professional education units (CPEUs) from their Vtrim training.

We can train well-qualified RDs from partnering healthcare provider organizations to become Vtrim facilitators. By supplying their own facilitator to run Vtrim sessions, healthcare organizations can typically reduce the Vtrim program cost for their patients.

The quality of care is closely monitored using the Vtrim quality control (QC) process, regardless of whether facilitators are employed by Vtrim or a partnering health care institution. Healthcare institutions can have confidence in their Vtrim facilitators and the overall Vtrim curriculum knowing that systems are in place to ensure adherence to clinical best-practice protocol, quality, and aggregate results.

FSA/HSA Funds Can Be Used to Enroll in Vtrim for Disease Treatment

In many cases, patients with FSA or HSA accounts can use their tax-deferred funds to pay the Vtrim enrollment fee. This may require patients to have documentation from their physician indicating that they are obese and have been diagnosed with a specific condition or disease (such as hypertension, or heart disease) that warrants their enrollment in Vtrim as a treatment for the diagnosed condition. A simple letter from the referring physician is all that is typically required.
