Small state, big heart. Let’s make it a healthy one.

Vermont was the first state to abolish slavery. The first state to allow civil unions and is the largest maple syrup producer in the United States. We printed the first U.S. postage stamp and built the first ski tow.

In 2012, Vtrim wants to help Vermont and Vermonters be the first state to reverse the trend of overweight and obesity. Fifty-nine percent of Vermonters are overweight or obese. While that’s not nearly as bad as many states, it’s too high for Vermont.

Vtrim is based in Vermont, employs Vermonters and was developed by Dr. Jean Harvey-Berino and her team of obesity researchers at the University of Vermont. More than 4000 Vermonters have taken the Vtrim program in clinical trials or as a commercial program.

Tropical Storm Irene hurt Vermont deeply. But we showed the nation that Vermonters can work swiftly, together, to rebuild its infrastructure and create programming to support its citizens. With only 650,000 citizens, we are a small state, but we pack a big punch. And overweight and obesity is hurting Vermonters…Vtrim wants that to change. Starting today.
